The Stockplace Dress Collaboration: Transitioning to Fall
Back in November of last year, my friends Megan and Brynlee, owners of The Stockplace, asked me to join them in designing a couple new dresses for their 2018 summer collection. I’ve worked with Megan and Brynlee for a couple of years now. In fact, they hosted my very first public cake class at one of their pop-up shops two years ago. Both of our brands were young and it was so fun to join forces and support one another. Ever since, I’ve considered these amazing women some of my dear friends.
Needless to say, it was an obvious ‘yes’ for me to join them in this collaboration. And like nearly every other little girl, I always dreamed of being a fashion designer when I was young, so this basically checked that box off my bucket list.
The Courtney Dress
We originally set out to design one dress, based on the fit and look of some of our other favorite dresses. It came together so well and we’ve named it The Courtney Dress. I love the fit of this one. The waistline hits at the perfect place and the A-line cut of the skirt is so flattering. Another favorite feature of mine is the buttons running down the front of the dress. I always feel like the little details make an outfit!
The Courtney Dress is knee-length (I’m 5′ 7″ for reference), is nursing friendly and has pockets. I would also recommend sizing up in this one. I’m wearing a medium.
It’s the perfect end of summer, heading into fall dress. It can be worn on its own for warmer days or paired with a cardigan and booties for cooler autumn temps. Here are some of my fall favorites to wear with The Courtney Dress this fall (nothing over $100!).
The Mixed Berry Dress
During our initial meeting about the dress collaboration, I brought a few of my drawings and some of my favorite clothing items with me for inspiration. This second dress, The Mixed Berry Dress (named after one of my favorite cakes) is based on an obsession-worthy blouse I’ve had for a couple of years. I love a cute little neck tie and wanted to incorporate this element into a slightly more dressy dress. But, knowing not everyone would be into the idea, we made the necktie removable. It can be worn around the neck, waist, or not at all. Totally up to you.
This dress is also nursing friendly, has pockets and fits true to size. I’m wearing a small.
I love the look of this dress with a simple denim jacket or a cropped blazer. Pairing it with booties or closed-toed shoes gives it the perfect fall feel.
Head over to The Stockplace to check out the dresses! Can’t wait to hear what you think!
